Long before the smash-hit 1987 animated series, the heroes in a half shell debuted in their own Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic, created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. 

The comics took a far darker tone than that of the tv show, in both design and storytelling. Funko's new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pop! Vinyl Figures pays tribute to those original comics, featuring the turtles (as well as some friend and foes) in their original design, with a unique "cel shading" effect.
